The child proof kitchen

Do you have a young family? New parents often have so much to get ready before the baby comes. It is true of all parents to want to keep the home as safe as possible for their little ones.

The whole house needs to be properly childproofed however today we would like to bring your attention to a specific part of the home. The Kitchen is an important part of the home and we want to explore how we can make this area of the home as safe as possible for the most important members of your family.

The kitchen poses a threat for toddlers more than newborns. It is important to seal all electrical sockets. Kids might not be able to reach electrical sockets in the kitchen because in most homes’ kitchens will have these sockets out of reach of children. However, kids could climb up and reach these sockets. It is also important to install safety latches on all cabinets and cupboards.

Seal off the edges of your countertops and other areas in the kitchen that have sharp edges. It is important to always unplug your electrical appliances, keep all alcoholic beverages safely locked away. Another important part of the kitchen that is probably easier for your child to reach is the trashcan. Make sure your trash can has a secure lid on that your child can’t open. Keep recyclable cans and stored out of your child’s reach.

We may not be able to assist you on the childproofing front but we are here for you whenever you need a kitchen renovation.
